So Proud of Andrijana and Milinko's Success at GESC2024
We are thrilled to share the fantastic news that our talented students, Andrijana and Milinko, have achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Global Environment Solutions Challenge (GESC) held in Shanghai, China. Competing against the brightest minds from around the world, they not only represented our EMOS research group and the Faculty of Sciences with scientific excellence but also brought pride to our country, Serbia.
Their journey to China began with the exciting announcement that the MAD Scientists Team (for inquiries about the name of the team, please get in touch with Andrijana :)) had advanced to the semifinals of this prestigious competition. Overcoming the challenges of securing resources and making their way to Shanghai, Andrijana and Milinko showcased their dedication and determination.
At GESC2024, the competition was intense, with student teams addressing critical themes such as Human Health, Circular Economy, Climate Change, and Zero-Waste City. Numbers were amazing – 595 student participants, 136 teams from 60 countries. The conference was a serious and highly competitive event, emphasizing innovation and sustainable solutions to combat plastic pollution.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Andrijana and Milinko’s hard work and innovative solutions earned them the second prize at the conference. Their success is a testament to their scientific prowess and their ability to make a significant impact on global environmental challenges.
Beyond their scientific achievements, Andrijana and Milinko also represented Serbia with pride during the “Culture Night” organized at the conference. This special event provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the diverse cultures of the attendees, and our students did an excellent job of showcasing Serbian culture and heritage. Congratulations to Andrijana and Milinko for their outstanding achievement! Their success at GESC2024 not only highlights their individual talents but also underscores the excellence of our EMOS research group and the Faculty of Sciences. We look forward to their continued contributions to scientific research and global sustainability.
