Our group leaders included in the Stanford's list of top 2% scientists
We are delighted to announce that the group leaders of the EMOS research group have been included in Stanford’s latest list of the Top 2% Scientists. Sanja and Stevan began their “collaboration” (by all means :)) more than 20 years ago, during high school – they were even classmates!
In 2004, they both enrolled in undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Novi Sad. By 2011, as fresh PhD students, they independently introduced the systematic application of computational methods for studying molecules and periodic structures at the University of Novi Sad. Their first joint paper, applying DFT calculations to study the properties of three molecules, was published in 2012. Their efforts focused on combining multiscale modeling techniques to complement experimental work. This approach was featured in Sanja’s PhD dissertation, which combined experimental work with DFT calculations and MD simulations.
For years, Sanja and Stevan were a “gigantic” two-member team, but in 2020, they formally established the EMOS research group. In 2022, Maria Savanović (née Uzelac) and Andrijana Bilić (née Vukojević) joined the team, bringing – let’s say diplomatically — “new perspectives on scientific topics.” 🙂 In 2023, Milinko Perić joined, strengthening our experimental efforts, and in 2024, our youngest member, Dušica Krunić, came aboard to support our computational activities further.
The group has come a long way. Today, we develop new materials and explore their potential for environmental applications. We employ a wide range of computational methods for investigating molecules and periodic structures and even develop our own tools for molecular calculations.
We are proud of our global collaborations and always emphasize that collaboration is the essence of success.
