Project funded by AP VOJVODINA 2023
About project
The region of the Autonomous Province (AP) of Vojvodina boasts abundant surface water resources from the Danube, Sava, Tisa rivers, and the Danube-Tisa-Danube canal system. However, these vital water sources suffer from significant organic pollution due to inadequate waste management practices. As part of AP Vojvodina’s comprehensive sustainability strategy, considerable emphasis is placed on safeguarding the environment’s quality. A key focus lies in developing innovative technologies and protocols for effectively managing industrial waste and eliminating organic pollutants from water resources. These efforts aim to address the pressing environmental challenges within the region, striving for sustainable solutions.
The main goal of the project is the development of an efficient and environmentally sustainable solution for the integrated management of industrial effluents and the removal of organic pollutants from waters on the territory of AP Vojvodina. Achieving this goal requires the fulfillment of the following specific goals:
- Development of a biotechnological procedure for the utilization of industrial effluents of AP Vojvodina in the production of xanthan and its application as a photocatalytically active polymer;
- Development of biopolymer materials with photocatalytic activity and efficiency during the decomposition of dangerous and polluting organic substances present in the natural waters of AP Vojvodina.
The project promotes the application of sustainable materials and technologies in the field of environmental protection. In addition, it contributes to the scientific and technological advancement of AP Vojvodina in the field of biopolymer production and its application in the purification of water resources. The results of the research planned within this project can have a positive impact on the development of scientific and innovative potential in the region and also contribute to the improvement of the industrial sector of AP Vojvodina.
The published results of the project will improve the visibility of researchers, which opens up the possibility of establishing international cooperation and, together with all the above, will contribute to the ecological, economic, and social sustainability of AP Vojvodina.The region of the Autonomous Province (AP) of Vojvodina
